Invertebrate Zoology: Fall, 2015

For my senior level invertebrate zoology course, I collected and identified over 175 species of invertebrates including spiders, insects, centipedes, millipedes, and crustaceans.

 

Fish and Wildlife Management: Fall, 2015

For my Fish and Wildlife Management course through Casper College, I spent an afternoon stocking fish in the North Platte River with the Wyoming Game and Fish department. The afternoon gave me great insight to what goes on at the Game and Fish Department, and I developed some relationships that can be used as great resources in the future in my own classroom.

 

Flora of the Rocky Mountains Summer Class: June 2015

In this 3 week accelerated summer class, we studied 30 different plant families common in the Rocky Mountain area.We collected and studied the plants on Casper Mountain, and other areas around Natrona County. We also camped for 3 days in the Big Horn Mountains and collected and studied flora in that area. The highlight of the trip was hiking into a fen to observe the only insectivorous plant in Wyoming: Drosila.

 

Entomology: Spring, 2015

For my Entomology class through Casper College, I collected and identified over 150 insect species. I also studied and dissected a variety of insects including grasshoppers and cockroaches.

Plant and Fungal Biology: Fall, 2014

One of the greatest tools I walked away from Plant and Fungal Biology with was the skill to take microscope pictures, and use an app to label them. This is a skill that I can’t wait to share with my class.
